Project 10 | November [hands]

Okay, I'll admit it. This one gave me a lot of trouble. Not so much because of the subject matter but because of life. I had plans for this subject but life kept throwing things at me this month. Some of it good (like the new laptop but installing programs took a while and I still haven't found my fonts!) and some pretty hard to take. So things didn't exactly pan out as planned. Such is life. I ended up taking pictures over several days but did manage to finish the project! And I'm pretty happy with the results, overall. Maybe not quite what I envisioned but that's nothing new. Hopefully next month will be more cooperative!

With that said, my thought for this project was the creativity of our hands. We do so much with our hands but nothing inspires me more than the things we create with our hands. Whether it's decorating cupcakes, knitting, or painting among the prosaic moments of eating and other necessities, we create. And creation in any form is inspiring and fun!

(The pictures of kids hands aren't just of the monster's hands. They're from a halloween party he went to with a bunch of his friends. Chaos! Fun but chaos. The knitter is my Mom, they hand on the keyboard is my own when I was working on my NaNo word count, the painter is unknown, and the pizza eater is a friend of mine. Finally, anyone who knows me know how much I love nail polish. The manicure picture is what I created for my nails for Halloween this year.)

Project 10 | October [a day in the life]

And here we are, October 10th and time for this month's Project 10. The theme this month was "a day in the life" and once again, I found it harder than I had expected. I don't think pictures of me cleaning and running errands would be all that fascinating. I could do pictures of my son but somehow that didn't seem exactly the right way to go. Pictures of my dogs would have involved a lot of sleeping.

An idea finally occurred to me as it was coming down to the wire. So, I introduce a day in the life of my little monster's favourite stuffy, Blue. I wish I could tell you where Blue came from for sure but I strongly suspect my Mom bought it for him. I do know that he's a Ty plushie from 2007 and he was part of the stuffy collection for a while before the monster chose him as the favourite. And Blue's Clues is the reason for the choice. For those of you who don't know, Blue on Blue's Clues is a blue puppy with blue markings and floppy ears. Our Blue is white with blue markings but that doesn't matter a bit to the monster. He plays Blue's Clues with his Blue but it's more than that. He would happily take Blue everywhere with him and he tries. I'm constantly pulling Blue out of his school backpack and more than a few times out from under his shirt because, you know, that's sneaky. *lol*

So, I hope you enjoy and please be sure to head over to Samantha's Blog to see her take on the challenge!

Project 10 | September [endings]

So our first theme for our Project 10 was endings. We certainly could have picked an easier theme. Oh, endings sounds easy enough in some respects but I actually found it very difficult. I had a few ideas and tossed them out as just not working. Finally I was flipping through my photo file folder, searching for inspiration when the theme that I went with finally occurred to me.

I love taking pictures of the old buildings on the assorted farm lands in our area. Just the way they're fading away, falling apart, and weathering. The texture and feel of them appeals to me in so many ways. And with endings of our themes, I finally knew what I needed to do for my project 10! Here's hoping that I was successful!

Be sure to head on over to Samantha's Blog to see how she interpreted the theme for this month!

A New Leaf...

This blog has been languishing for such a long time as I turned to Facebook for my photography posting and the Picture a Day challenge. But while I've enjoyed the challenge of a picture a day, I felt I needed a different challenge.

Which is why I'm shaking the dust off and returning to my blog to start the Project Ten with three other photography buffs! We have a word for inspiration and on the tenth of the month, we post our ten pictures that relate to that month's word.

I'm very excited for this project!

Crescent Beach

I picked up the monster early today and took advantage of the nice weather to take a drive out to White Rock and then Crescent Beach.

It was beautiful out and the monster is happy any time that we can spend outside.

Of course, it was funny as all get out that every couple of steps he took, he had to stop and get the sand out of his shoes. Again. He finally figured out it was easier to just leave them sitting on the beach and worry about it later.

It was great fun. We had dinner and ate some burgers and nuggets. And the crows thought they were invited. Oddly no seagulls tonight, just a lot of determined crows.

A Stroll along the Bay...

I drove into Tsawwassen yesterday to take a walk along the other side of Boundary Bay. It was a beautiful day and I had a really good walk.

I found a bench to settle on along the way and relaxed back a bit, reading a book for a while.

This bench, actually. A great view. Lots of birds to watch, the sound of the water, and a fresh breeze.

All in all, a good day.

Mother's Day

So, yesterday we took my parents to the bird sanctuary since Dad had never been there. One of the cutest things of the day were the four little goslings being led around by their Mom and Dad. Which brings us to why it's my picture of the day today and not yesterday.

I didn't take my camera with me. I didn't think I'd need it.

Which is why I returned today and was lucky enough to find the little guys. I got a bunch of great pics of the little goslings as well as a host of other birds. Including a fluke shot of a humming bird.

Whoot!

Enjoy!
